The 19 yr. old "throw in" is intriguing even if we won't see him probably for 2-3 yrs., has hit 98 mph, is a lefty, has a goofy delivery and a huge slow curve. I've never seen that kind of delivery before. I like what I see.... he's got some Norm Charlton in him!

With the stuff he has that little back step to square himself up will be deceptive. The torque on that arm action though will wear out if not refined. But even though it is rookie ball it could be a nice find.

I like Herrara. Could be a Phillips clone. Schebler needs to be called up, tomorrow. Cozart will clear waivers so maybe the Seattle trade will rekindle. He will never clear waivers. Hell, the Mariners would grab him of waivers.

Me either, kind of walks all over the mound before doing his thing. I know this, goofy seems to be effective in MLB, especially from lefties even if they don't have stuff.

Paul Daugherty is an idiot. I rip the team plenty but he's on the Enquirer being Mr Real talking about it is just a plain salary dump and dismissing the new players already. We talk about Jocketty being outdated and applying 90's level approach to GM'ing a baseball team. I think Doc is stuck there in his journalistic ways also. Of course it is part salary dump. Getting cheap is a goal now too because as I alluded to last night, as soon as the pitchging staff gels and that can take a couple years or it could take 1 year, we are already seeing some of the light here. When that happens being cheap means adding to weak spots can be achieved without any modicum of budget concerns. The prospect beratement I simply don't get. Herrera had a little bit of a struggle for the first time this year and it's not that horrid anyway. The 2 prior years were plenty above average. But can we stop writing off 22 year olds already? He has Herrera on the scrap heap and for some Peraza who is the same age is already an afterthought. I think this is nonsense. We don't know yet and their progress can't be judged or solved quickly. But how are we going to judge that? The only way we can and that is by getting these guys everyday playing time and letting them adjust and develop at the major league level. How do they get playing time? By subtracting people that are in their way. Like Jay Bruce. That is what this trade was about moreso than anything. Getting on with reality. I can't believe how even writers can be this short sighted.

Milwaukee is calling up their top prospect, SS-Orlando Arcia(hitting .260s 8HR in AAA). Here's the quote from Manager Craig Counsell on the promotion:
"The thinking is it's time to get him started," said Counsell. "We've still got [58] games left, a good chunk of the season left, where we're hopeful that it gives him good experience going into next year. I think it's a little shot in the arm for us, a little boost for us, as well."
I think it's time to get Peraza started, time to get Hererra started. Some organizations get it...we're obviously not one of them.

I'm trying to be positive for the little that is happening but c'mon.

It's one step forward, 2 steps back w/ these guys. The majority of the trades they've made look good to at least OK. And then they put themselves in a box and prolong this agony by not seeing if their new shiny toys are as good as they/we hope by playing these old guys instead of just jumping into the deep end. Maddening.
