Before he lost his prospect eligibility, Herrera was the Mets #4. Doesn't look like we moved Cozart, and Phillips is still around, so I'm not sure where Herrera is going to play. We already can't find a spot for Peraza, and this is another player jamming up the same positions. Maybe a DFA for Phillips?
Also included in the deal is LHP-Max Wotell,19, who was the Mets 3rd rd pick in 2015. The Mets paid way over slot value to keep him from going to college after he was drafted. Wotell is the Mets #16 prospect. He's tall and has a frame that can really fill out, fastball is at 90-91, but can touch 95, & the feeling is he can be more consistently there as he adds muscle. Bit of funky delivery that needs smoothing out. Has a plus breaking ball, and a decent change up. Projected to be a MLB starter down the road. Currently in Rookie Ball, he has 12BB 31K in 29IP. .220BAA 1.21WHIP. It'll take time, but he has potential to be a good one.

Thanks Brad
I should of checked here for trade info on players Reds received before checking with enquirer
So the OF Reds were going for might have been the problem with his knee injuries?

Really too bad Reds can't dump BP
They trade Fraizer now Bruce for middle infielders but they are blocked by BP
So now ... Schebler or Peraza get a chance in OF

Trade deadline has come and gone but Cozart might be a waiver trade until end of August
Can't just let him walk for nothing

Thanks Brad I should of checked here for trade info on players Reds received before checking with enquirer So the OF Reds were going for might have been the problem with his knee injuries? All the reports were Nimmo's medicals were ok and the issue was with one of the other lower level players. My guess, and this is only speculation, is that Herrera is considered the better player over Nimmo, so the teams agreed to upgrade Nimmo with Herera and drop the 3rd player.

Trade deadline has come and gone but Cozart might be a waiver trade until end of August Can't just let him walk for nothing We've still got another year of control over Cozart, but the problem is that most of the contending teams are in a ok spot at SS, and really weren't looking to upgrade. I don't think a single SS was moved. While I would have liked to see Cozart moved to open PT for Herrera & Peraza, there might be a better market for him in the offseason.

Based on everything I've heard, I love how this transpired. I'd much rather have a young solid power hitting 2nd baseman in Herrera. This kid's numbers in AAA in 2015 were off the charts good. His K's worry me a bit, and even though numbers out of Las Vegas are typically inflated, playing in GABP, shouldn't be a whole lot different as far as power ability. I have no idea about his defense though. We have a decent amount of outfielders in the system right now, and while we have some middle infielders, they come with question marks, starting with both Suarez and Peraza. I'm going to miss Bruce, and with the year he's having, it hurts, but this return looks like it could be pretty solid.

They are going to need to sit BP a lot. His numbers are below average in the league, and quite frankly, he put himself in any position that forces him to sit. Price needs to grow a pair on this subject.

I hate to see Bruce go. Dilson looks to be at least a solid return. Just DFA Phillips and be done with it. He is a below level replacement player right now and that is a fact. I would expect that there may be a market for Cozart in the off season. Chris good to see you back posting. I was starting to wonder if everything was ok with you.
We still don't know about the catching situation moving forward. Votto at 1b looks like Herrera at 2b Peraza at ss Senzel at 3b. That makes Suarez a bench player. That's OK. He would be a upgrade over the usual scrub bench MIF. 2017 my made up order 1.Hamilton cf 2.Herrera 2b 3.Votto 1b 4.Senzel 3b will he be ready? Suarez 5. Winker lf Will he be ready? Schebler 6.Mez c Will he ever catch again? Barnhart 7. Duvall rf I am still no sold on him. 8. Peraza SS That is 11 players. So last two BENCH guys would be a OFer and a INF. That offence has a shot to be good but it also has tons of question marks. Could be better could be worse. Time will tell.
Chris, From what i read Herrera is a butcher at 2b. Not sure if the reports are true. Lets hope they are wrong.

BP's reluctance to leave is really fucking everything up. I like the idea of having Cozart around as depth but he needs to be a part time player as well. Get both of these kids into the middle infield right now. Suarez's clock is ticking. Duvall can play 3B and Senzel will be fast tracked. I want Winker here in a month and Schebler tomorrow. Guy has an 1.100+ OPS for 2 months straight. I love going to the ballpark in September. if they still have the Cozart-Phillips combo playing nearly everyday I won't touch that fuckin place. We've already squandered 4 months of this season learning nothing. Get on with it.....

The more I think about this the more I like it. I didn't think it would be possible to get much for Bruce for basically having a career year in 4 months off 2 dismal overall years. So my reaction was tempered by my expectations and a dismal front office. This deal looks pretty solid and many are high on this kid.

I guess trading Bruce means we have officially given up on the playoff run that started after the allstar break!

I like Herrara. Could be a Phillips clone.
Schebler needs to be called up, tomorrow.
Cozart will clear waivers so maybe the Seattle trade will rekindle.
