Fantasy baseball is back open for business. The invites are emailed to everyone who was in the league last year. Hopefully everyone can participate in the league this year. RedsFan would love to find a spot for you.
We talked about 2 keepers last year implemented for this year. I'm not sure if everyone is still interested. I'm not sure how it works with draft picks and such. If anyone knows, please let me know. I think the 6x6 categories worked fine last year.

The best team of last year is back for revenge after a semi-final jobbing in the playoffs!

Same here. I still can't believed I lost with a tie. Lol That was crazy dude. That happened to me in a critical week a few years ago where I lost a tiebreaker. I can't remember if it was in the playoffs or for a playoff spot. But wheeew losing a World series on a tiebreaker. They should start the playoffs a week earlier for fantasy so you can play an extra day til a tie is broken!

I am looking forward to it! I am a fan of the keepers. You should be able to enter the data before the draft starts and the program will eliminate those who have been "kept". Good luck all!

Hey Davis: Clinz mentioned last year that we would implement keepers for this year and asked in the above post if everyone was still interested. I like the extra element of planing ahead and looking at the longview. Makes it kind of interesting.

My thought was to keep 2 players. If that sounds good to everybody or we can do more. I'm open to ideas. As far as how we draft, I'm not sure how that works exactly. I'll look into it once we have everyone signed up and I'll set a date to have the keepers in.
Davis, Eric we still need you guys to join. ASAP would be great that way I can set up the keeper status and work with it.

I was wanting to see where everybody was at before I said anything but I am completely opposed to keepers. My honest opinion is there is more negatives to it than upside. The sunny side of it is obvious, you have players that are awesome and you will always have them, you got a leg up on your competition. But guess what? Whomever gets the best draft spot on day 1,instead of their luck playing out all year it plays out every year. 1 good draft and your edge is built in every year. If this happens to 2 teams in your league and it will, next year if they have a good draft there will be a compounding effect. There will be 2 endlessly great teams that dominate and nobody else has a real shot. I tell you what, even if I am one of those teams it will make reality uninteresting real fast. On the opposite end of the spectrum you have keepers and they get injured or go south and you're fucked. You're stuck with garbage and back to square one. To me keepers is the fast track to making an awesomely competitive league and uncompetitive borefest. We all know we have good drafts and bad drafts. 50 % of it is positioning, the other 50% is judgement. I don't want to be locked into any 1 draft of anything. New draft every year is the ultimate level playing field. Our league isn't broken so we shouldn't tinker with just for the hell of it. And besides what if somebody wants to drop out or join?
Anyway I'm not trying to be a downer here. I think we have a great league because everybody is cool and everybody is wickedly competitive. I think this keeper idea is not a good one though. But I'll go along with the consensus. I'm a team player.

I'll open a discuss thread on the fantasy site for the guys who aren't on this forum page. We can discuss it there further to get a gage on it.

I'm in favor of keepers, I just forgot it was addressed. I have always loved the keepers idea. So, yes, I'm in....

I'm for the keepers, but as Rod says, I got some really good players I'd like to keep home! Kind of funny in Rod's argument is that it makes it more realistic. The good fantasy team that gets it right can be the St. Louis Cardinals of the league, and the ones that can't get on track will be the equivalent of well...the Reds!
SoCal is already whining on the Yahoo board about it. Could this be the issue that unites long time heated rivals Rod & Chris into holy matrimony???
