The winter meetings are getting pretty interesting. Except for us! I don't expect much from them. I think they're in a position to dictate a trade. It's a good position to be in. Unlike the past GM. If anything happens I can see a move or two in January from a Free Agency standpoint. Yelich was in play now the report is he's not. I like Yelich but are the Reds one player away. I don't think so. I'd hold unless you're stealing him from them.

I like the idea iterated by Clay to get both Yelich and Ziegler if possible. That would do a world of good. Chris said both. But hell yeah, we should kick the tires on both or whatever combination of players the Marlins are willing to deal. Just don't raid the farm too much. haha And if there are any good options to acquire from the A's for Duvall, sure thing... look into it. Not convinced that the Giants can even swing a deal for Hamilton. So I'm not thinking about that much at all. Our pitchers need to toughen up. They need to throw strikes. Not groove it right down the middle, but they seriously need to quit walking so many and cut down on falling behind in the count. If they get hammered on good pitches, so be it. Then we know they don't have what it takes. If they shine, this team will compete.

Cozart to the Angels for 3/$38. This was the biggest mistake for the Reds. The Angels paid him $38 mil to essentially play 3rd base. I would be shocked if Cozart would not have signed with the Reds for 3/$35 to stay at SS. People love to say our offense wasn't the problem. True, but much in part to Cozart having an extraordinary year. We go from having one of the top 3 offensive SS's in the game last year to the absolute WORST hitting SS in Peraza. I can only hope that the Reds will look out of the box, and put Senzel at SS in the spring and in AAA to start the season, because this team has NO SS for the future. Peraza is a liability at SS both defensively and offensively, and we let go one of the best both offensively and defensively. What a shame!

Its true that he's going to play 3rd base (more than likely), but what I read was that Kinsler only had one year left and would probably be gone. So Cozart would probably move to 2nd base at that time. Or that there was an outside chance that Kinsler would move to 3rd this coming season and Cozart would go to 2nd right away.

Once upon a time I would say no to Cozart 3/$38 but you can flip players if you suck on June 1st. Only an injury would kill you. But in that season. People think of injury for the duration of the deal. It would only hurt you if he got hurt before the trade deadline. Or performed horrendously! We could have done a deal. Mixed feelings on this. As bad as you dislike Peraza, we need to find out if he indeed is dogshit. I would prefer that to be this season than next.

One month, that being August, was his only good month of the 2017. He's a bad defensive player, and the lightest hitter in the game. There is no upside to that kid. I will say this though, Cozart will not put up the same numbers because his mentor Votto will not be in the dugout with him. His whole game changed due to Votto, as has Suarez's game. Anyway, it's done, and we are stuck with Peraza. I'm hopeful the Reds will think out of the box, and play Senzel at SS in AAA and the spring. He has played SS before, and he's very athletic. If the team has the balls to play Senzel at SS, then I personally won't be all that bothered about losing Cozart. I can certainly live with Suarez, Senzel, The couple of options at 2nd base (not including Peraza), and Votto. That would be an outstanding infield, and very offensive too.

I will give Peraza another season before I sour. I do trust your opinions though. You were always right about Cozart for years and you deserve credit. I am prejudiced though. I believe in the Latin players and believe players sub 25 can become something. I really do think Peraza has some talent. To be determined!
