I don't think they should go after him regardless. He has had injury issues. I'd stay away from him. Jeffery has been plagued throughout the years with various injuries. However, there's another free agent WR that has never been injured since being drafted in 2012 in Reuben Randle of the Giants. Randle has steadily improved each year minus last season where his catches dropped from a career high of 71 in 2014, down to 57 in 2015. If the Bengals could add him to the roster, it would go a long way in strengthening the WR position. Jeffries is getting F tag. |

Color me disappointed. But here is why. I like going the young route but when this team drafts many players, I mean other than an obvious WR star in the making like an AJ Green this team will not give them enough snaps,looks,given a prominent role as rookies. It disappoints me. And that might also be complicated by a new OC that could be anything but might be conservative as well regarding snap distribution. My whole point being is that I am apprehensive regarding how the team will address this problem. How they look at it. We have seen them improve as an organization but I feel there is still not enough of a progressive and aggressive will applied to the team. And that sense of trepidation on their part is what is separating us from being very good as opposed to elite. I'll have to elaborate more later because I can't muster the proper words here. I could be very excited with a youth movement at the position but I don't think that ability is in their DNA. Do you know where I'm coming from gang?

There are a lot of Bengal fans that don't seem to be aware that the team may have only been a fumble and two good free agents away from winning the Super Bowl last year.
If the Bengals want to seriously challenge for a championship in 2016, they have got to sign two quality free agents if they do indeed lose some good players to free agency.

If the Bengals want to seriously challenge for a championship in 2016, they have got to sign two quality free agents if they do indeed lose some good players to free agency. For sure. Which is why after my initial angry and depressed reaction to yet another playoff loss I did an about face because looking back on the season as a whole we made some real strides. We are close. One great offseason and people could be surprised bigtime next January. Fingers crossed.....! |

I do not understand. FA begins in less than 48 hrs and they haven't signed a single one of their own significant FA players. Tate and a backup Center doesn't cut it. This team could get dismantled. Not good. No way can they replace even half of them in the draft. I don't get it. They have the money to keep these guys. What the hell are they doing?

Probably just splitting hairs on who stays and who goes. That's good they are doing their due diligence about it. It might mean they have some players they are targeting too outside the organization. I can't see us being "dismantled" though!  |

With so many Bengal starters hitting free agency, there's reason for concern. However, the Bengals are playing their cards pretty much like every other team in the league so far, so I guess we'll have to wait and see what their plan is. Rod brought up the possibility that the Bengals may be targeting prominent free agents from other teams and I too think this could happen. I know it goes against the way the Bengals traditionally handle free agency, but maybe ownership has had a change of heart by realizing how close they came to winning it all this past season. Ownership may also realize that if they continue to do things the same way, year in and year out, without making any changes whatsoever, they'll keep getting the same results with that being five straight 'one-n-dones' in the playoffs. One, two or three quality free agents (and it doesn't have to be the most expensive free agents on the market) could make all the difference in the world. Add two to three contributors through the draft and promote some youth from within such as Marcus Hardison, Darqueze Dennard, Paul Dawson, etc., and you have the makings of a team that could be better than last years team. Just no more A.J. Hawks! |

Still you have possibly adam jones, reggie nelson and iloka leaving. I don't see how they can even replace all 3 in FA. Looks to me more and more like they might be drafting a CB or safety 1st rd. They haven't signed anyone one day is not enough time to get more than 1 or 2 people signed. Guenther didn't sound thrilled with Dawson for some reason. Sounded like Maturity issues.
If you let Jones walk, you would end up with basically 2 rookies starting in the back field with Kirpatrick. That doesn't make me feel better. And they might pick up a safety in FA but who do you get that could be a strong replacement for Iloka?
If Jones goes, they need to sign a FA vet to fill his shoes. I can see that happening possibly. Also need to replace leon hall. Either in the draft or FA. If they lose both safeties then you need at least one starter and a backup. Assuming they feel Williams is ready to start.
What makes me nervous is we do have a top defense with these guys. They know how to play together. If you replace too many of them it could spell disaster. One or two I can see. Plus we know their history with FA. They don't exactly hit the ground running. They basically pick up leftovers. Our guys are good they wont last long in FA. Pac Jones and Iloka already have teams calling. As well as Browns calling Marvin Jones.

I agree that we need to sign Jones and Nelson. I can live without Iloka, insert some new blood.
