That is pretty amusing actually! And baseball writer myopia was apparent in 2010 also, they couldn't see that coming. That said we aren't near that 2010 team but maybe 1 year off. All we are basically waiting on is pitching. I've seen how Redszone has segmented out the season in order to discredit it. The fans who got excited about the 2nd half record is largely to blame. I said at the beginning of last season don't look at the record at all but the progress. And in kind we responded to the biggest run scoring output since 2011. And we do have more offense coming and from the looks of it we might have a more balanced and diverse lineup this season. I will point out the 2nd half splits though with Votto leading a young band of hitters to put up some impressive numbers. And the progress Finnegan made was uber impressive. We at least start the season with a competent offense, 3 able starters, and the back of the bullpen figured out. Could not say any of that 365 days ago. What would be nice is a little help from the front office. While dealings are going on we are again doing nothing. We don't have to go get frontline bullpen help but we can clearly improve upon what we had here last season. Don't wait and wait and wait then make a slew of moves to pick up major and minor league castoffs from other teams and hope something sticks. We did that last season and none of those assholes stuck! I am not wearing the fan glasses over here and know sorting the pitching out is still a tall task but there is statistical weight to what I am saying and we should expect a relatively competitive team in 2017. I've seen those with a dismal view use their powers of reason to discredit any hope there is for this team and that cannot be combated. It's a philosophical choice not the truth. And that goes for me too. I'll take one grain of truth and one grain of optimism and run it up my fan flagpole baby!

I'm adding on to my prior brilliance on the offseason. Fuck this! You know what you can do which we see done plenty by other intelligent GM's? Pay people market rate for the guys YOU want and if June rolls around and you look like shit, flip em on out the door. This smart guy does nothing is complete bullshit. Unless they are that MF'in scared of their own judgement that they are deathly afraid of acquiring damaged goods. Good GM's get who they want. These assholes are wet paper bag material!

Reds are the most boring team in baseball. I get the rebuilding process. But when you have an open anus for a bullpen and you DO have some cash, you know who you want and you go pay them before Christmas. The "Market" sets them back every year. Act first and there is no market. They treat the offseason like a porno with a giant dick hittin em in the head every time with a thud! LOL!

There's action!!!!
Reds sign Drew Storen to a 1-yr $3M deal, with opportunity for another $1.5M in incentives.
In my mind, it's not a horrible signing. Not big dollars, and if our pitching coaches can fix him and he returns to DC form, he can provide some stability in the back of the bullpen and then flip him at the trade deadline if he has a solid 1st half.

I don't understand the rejection. That's his hometown. His family lives there. Were they offering him a reduced playing role there too? He's not gonna be an everyday player here anymore and that's got to be a bit of a bruise on the ego.

And the trade happened in November. Why are we just now finding out about this?
