Reds have at least some interest in Neftali Perez??? Only rumors I'm hearing is about our own players. Have not seen us linked to a single player that might be acquired. Meanwhile teams that know what they want are going out and getting it done. WTF are we doing?

Buster Olney tweeted last night the Nationals tried to target Billy Hamilton before going after Adam Eaton, but noted the Reds didn't seem very motivated to move him.

Reds make 2 Rule 5 draft picks:
Round 1: C-Miguel Diaz(from Yankees...their #17 prospect) He was then traded to the San Diego Padres Round 2: C-Stuart Turner(from Twins): 3rd round pick in 2013 by Twins. He hit .239 6HR 41RBI 22-2Bs, 35BB 72K in 322ABs. Threw out nearly 40% of baserunners
Minor League Phase: Round 1: RHP Jose Adames,23(from Marlins...their #29 prospect) 1-5, 6.38ERA 7Svs 28BB 43K in 28IP in High-A
Reds lose: Nobody in the MLB phase
1B-Art Charles, JR to Brewers...he had some power, Reds signed him this offseason from the Independent Leagues RHP-Jefri Hernandez to Orioles...he was another offseason signing who was snatched away before playing his 1st game in the organization

New GM and no results. We only have a few basic needs and we get nothing done...
Thus far all the new GM does is talk better.

All the 3 guys are different.
Herget is your traditional guy who has been groomed as a reliever, power arm and can easily project into an 8th or 9th inning guy.
Chacin is a guy who just gets dudes out. His stuff not nearly as good as the other 2 guys mentioned, but he seems to never start the season as a closer, with the job going to a big power arm, only for Chacin proving to be the most effective guy and ultimately sliding into the role before the season is up. It will be interesting to see how his stuff plays going forward in AAA & MLB. He was eligible to be taken in the Rule 5 draft, but even after his AA season, the fact he wasn't pick to me means other teams may tend to question if his stuff will get him through going forward.
Guillon may be the most interesting and most talented of the group. There was some weird technicality which caused his original contract to be voided and then ultimate re-signed, which started his clock extraordinarily early. He was on the 40-man roster a few years ago to protect him from the Rule 5 draft, but ultimately taken off of it. He was a starter in his early days in AZL, Billings, and Dayton with mixed results, especially with his control in Dayton. He also battled some injuries. 2016 seemed to be the year where for the 1st time talent turned into results, and it coincided with him moving to the bullpen where he was brilliant. He also made a few spots starts throughout the year and did very well in that role too. If he can stay healthy and keep control of his control, dude will make it to the majors. Could be a stretch comparison, but I think it is possible he can be a Andrew Miller type reliever in the majors.

Definitely willing to roll dice on these guys and see if they are ready. All spring invites.

Neck I made the Austin Hedges/Zach Cozart deal for Jim Johnson/ Bryan Shaw That's a good deal. Hedges is 23 and mashed for 82 minor league games last year but there is no telling what he'll be. I wish we could send the real Cozart with the fake Cozart!
