I wonder what the trade market would be for Hamilton. Let’s hope this regime doesn’t back its self in a corner , seem desperate and give players away for nothing. I like Williams saying he’s not looking to trade. Let’s spin it so other teams are desperate and overpay.

Reds sign Kevin Quackenbush to minor league contract with spring invite. He only had a couple decent seasons for Padres has been horrible of late. Lets hope he don't throw 6 shutout innings in spring against a bunch of single A hitters. If so he will make club and get bombed.

I would too. For the right price. Iglesias like Chapman is a luxury on a losing team. Hamilton I want rid of just because it seems we are always stuck with players we imagine to be something and they never are. If he goes elsewhere and becomes something so be it. He has been mediocre here when he isn't hurt. I agree Rod, I could see Senzel playing some OF if need be plus you have Winker. It’s time to see what we got. You know what you get with Hamilton a sub .300 OBP. who bats lead off. Right! Fuck that shit. .298 leadoff OBP=no! We are going to get mediocre defense, 10 stolen bases but I bet a .350+ OBP with Winker. I'm fine with that. The glitter is BS isn't it?!

They could get a nice haul for Iglesias. Damn right I would trade him. Hamilton could be way more valuable in a big OF. One of the west coast teams needs to go after him. We can't have him or Peraza anywhere near the top of the lineup and you know Price will bat one or both near the top. Williams needs to Price proof the lineup. Like Beane did when Art Howe kept on playing Carlos Pena over Hatteberg. Beane said fuck this Pena has been traded. Hatteberg is at 1B tonight jackass.

From an overall historical perspective think about our Reds team entering into this offseason. How many prime seasons are you willing to squander from what will be the best offensive Reds player in history? We keep thinking of smart being willing to lose badly for 2-5 years by most estimates. While a 1st ballot hall of famer does his best work. By any measure it is hard to stomach. It's fairly tragic.

When you figure Senzel , Winker, Trammel with improved SP takes 2-3 years, Votto will be 37 and at that age it’s hard to tell what a player will be. The only hope we have is if he goes on the Tom Brady routine, then we have a chance. Lol

It's tough what we are watching play out.

Deck McGuire gone to the Blue Jays.
Patrick Kivlehan signed to Reds minor league contract with an invite to spring training.
Ugh. Both minor negatives. But even minor negatives tend to turn into bigger problems during the season, especially with the Reds. I was really hoping that Kivlehan would be gone. And hoping even more that McGuire might get some more time on the GABP mound. At least he pounds the strike zone. Most of the pitchers we have have problems pounding their meat.

INF-Alex Blandino 2B-Shed Long OF-Jose Siri SP-Jose Lopez SP-Jesus Reyes RP-Zack Weiss
The above players were added to the 40-man roster today to protect from being drafted in the Rule-5 draft. Maybe the biggest name left off is Gavin LaValley, but I think the chances of him being selected are fairly slim.

Not suggesting that he isn't worthy, because he's outstanding. I just think it seems odd to protect a kid who hasn't been above "High A Ball" yet. Would a team really grab him and put him on an MLB roster all year long? Maybe so I guess; I think he is about 24 or 25. What do you think Brad?

Siri is only 22, and you could take an American League team and hide him on the bench as a 5th outfielder, pinch runner, and pinch hitter and last the year with the talent he has. Then option him down to AA in 2019. Not ideal for his overall development, but a team could pick up a nice talent at no cost. If i was GM of the team, I'd made the same decisions the team did. Those were the exact decisions I would have made.

I’d go for it. Sounds like there’s cap limitation which could make it worth the gamble. Get 5 years out of him. Maybe in the next 2-3 years your in the World Series.
