Been a while for one of these. testing testing 123.....
Man woke up today and it was raining and cool. After working outside all summer long and playing outside to boot I am completely ready to embrace fall. Man it's nice out.
Peraza keeps on hitting.

You know Peraza at 22 years old many saw as a finished product and wrote him off at such an early age. The walks, yes it's all about the walks. here is my perspective. A guy that can hit for average can later learn the strike zone? Why? The same reason we have seen pitching surge and hitting wane in the major leagues. Pitchers realized batters wanted to walk thus would put themselves into pitcher's counts. Only the supremely talented can absorb walks. The mediocre offensive prospect with some pop isn't going to get walks if he can't hit overall. The guy with no power is definitely getting no respect til he shows he can put the ball in play repeatedly. A young player that can hit .300 at the major league level can eventually develop a few more walks just by the calendar flipping and natural maturity occurring. The guy that can't hit never will. Peraza is showing his raw ability. IMO he will round out his game as he goes.

Love the way Peraza's hit, F' the walks. Good to be back for a few games, back on the road tomorrow but these shleps look like they're close to being a .500 club barring shitty health next yr.
And Votto is a hitting machine.

I'm going to do a thread after these final 7 games are over but we HAVE made progress. Going into next season we have... 1)3 rotation spots filled with able bodies and ERA's under 4.00(the starting point!) then a host of options to choose from that could be decent to very good. TBD. 2)2 bullpen spots locked down at the back end of it 3)4 hitters who in the 2nd half have improved their game tremendously in Hamilton, Suarez, Schebler, and Peraza. (PLus Duvall has been productive at least) Good start heading into 2017. A little Hot Stove magic and we won't be on suicide watch come March! LOL!  |

I've watched only a fistful of games this season and am ashamed to admit, I've never heard of Steve Selsky until tonight. I'm with Rod, if you can't make the playoffs, at least try to be a playoff spoiler!

For the record I have turned my head away from the Reds and said literally to people "Fuck the Reds" plenty this season! But I've still watched probably at least 100 games. It was kind of just waiting around til you started seeing some signs of life. For awhile there it seemed we weren't going to get a drop of any progress from this season which really would have been a waste.

It was kind of just waiting around til you started seeing some signs of life. For awhile there it seemed we weren't going to get a drop of any progress from this season which really would have been a waste. Yeah, this is the fewest Red's games I've watched since I gained access to them 10 years ago (living in Florida my entire life made it tough to catch them on tv). I grew tired of watching an nimrod manager, dead weight players and don't give a shit about the fans front office. You're right though, somehow they showed some improvement (the players that is) and have given me a glimmer of hope for the near future. |

Been in Baton Rouge the last 4 weeks, rebuilding/renovating a Target Dept. store that flooded. 60K houses got flooded a month or so ago, all by rainwater(24+ inches in 24 hrs.). Our company went in, took up all the old flooring, then ground the concrete, encapsulated it, reversing the bio-hazard that the flood caused. 188K sq. feet, the 2nd largest one that they have in the world. |

Talk about hot..? It was 95+ every day down there. On the local weather report when it told the humidity, it just stated: Oppressive. Hint: it was over 90% every day, and it rained every day. Did get to go to New Orleans, the french qtr. and Bourbon St.
What a shit hole. Got to see a dead girl on the curb w/ in 10 minutes of getting to Bourbon St., people called the cops, took 'em 3.5 hrs. to even arrive. Heroine OD. Had a cig in her mouth, 2 PM.
Also went to Mannings in NO, saw Archie Manning, talked w/ him briefly, great guy.
