It's actually been quite a year Vincej. He was a 37th rd draft pick out of Pepperdine in 2012. He never has been a big power guy...his 3HRs in the AFL matches his 3HR all year in Pensacola. In his 2nd full year at AA he hit a very solid .281 3HR 47RBI. 25BB 85K in 424PAs. Can be streaky hitting .314 in June, .370 in July, but crashed down to .221 before finishing with a solid September and playoffs. His calling card is his glove though. Known as an elite defender, he had a .991 fielding percentage at SS which was the best in all in the minors and earned him a Rawlings Minor League gold glove. If he can continue to hit some, while maintaining an elite glove he'll find himself on a MLB roster. Not too shabby for a 37th round pick. |

Brad were you going to do a stat page for these guys too? Season is already over 1/2 over, and with the guys only playing 2-3 days/week, I was planning on just doing a recap stat sheet at the end of year. Right Now Zach Vincej is leading the AFL is batting average, tied for 3rd in HRs, & 3rd in RBIs. Barrett Astin has been the best of the pitchers so far. |
