Folks. I hope this is wrong. I just got a text message from Pittsburgh Johnny, that Rodneck was killed today in a work accident. PJ said Rod's ladder hit a power line and he was electrocuted.
I have become great Facebook friends with Rod. Have gotten to enjoy our discussions about grandkids, and life in general. He started dating a beautiful young lady about a year ago and he seemed to be incredibly happy with how life was treating him.
God Speed Rodster !

Yes this is true I am so sad to say. Gloria and I are devastated. We hadn't spoken about football in over 5 years but we stayed in contact weekly on Facebook. We grew very close and Gloria and I were planning on going on to Cincinnati to finally meet him face-to-face with his beautiful girl Darlene who made him so happy. I hadn't seen him this happy since I knew him. I am still in shock and I can't imagine not being able to reach out and talk to him. Please send your condolences to his girl and his family and grandkids and spend so much time with. He just had twin grand-kids a few months ago. Please stay in touch with me guys John Kovel 724-594-5952 hit me up on Facebook. The last time I talked with Rod about football I was wondering where the heck 77 bangle was and I see you're on this forum again buddy we were worried about you

Now it’s just you for me to torment, 77. Rod would have wanted me to. 😢 I've been meaning to relay this message to you in the past, but it seems like it always slips my mind. I think the timing couldn't be better. Here goes. Steelerwoman, I'm sorry I allowed my emotions to get the best of me in the past when corresponding with you. I'm not making excuses, but it's tough being a diehard Bengals fan since the age of 9 and not experiencing the thrill of winning a Super Bowl. It's also tough knowing so many loyal Bengal fans such as Rod, The True Professor, etc., have left this earth without watching their team make that incredible journey. I planned on meeting Rod at a game at some point down the road, but now it's too late. I'm really, really upset about this. I can't nor would I ever try to pick up where Rod left off. He was one of a kind as was The True Professor and neither can be duplicated. Lost, Redsfanforlife, Choco, and everyone else that frequents this board need to keep it going at least for the time being. Lets dedicate this upcoming season to Rod and hope that this franchise finally makes it over the mountain. For the past few years, I have been debating on whether I should start my own Bengals message board. After todays news, I think that may become a reality at some point down the road. The site will include a message board, articles/musings concerning the team, and everyone on here would be more than welcome.

No worries. It feels weird to be so emotional about a person you’ve never met, especially in this world of virtual anonymity. Once he and I saw into each other’s lives on FB, taunting over football just seemed outdated. 😉 My brother, a stalwart Steelers fan, died June 1, just 10 weeks after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. It’s going to be a lonely season in 2018.

I am so stunned and sad by this news. I don't do face book but many times I talked to Rod among others about meeting for a Reds game. I waited too long to do it. Rod like me was a Bengal fans but, I believe we both liked the game of baseball far better than football. Like you guys said it is devastating news we never met but we have been talking on here for close to 15 years on one board or another. We had a few knock down drag outs but nobody ever held a grudge. We have lost a good man a fellow Reds and Bengal fan a friend. RIP Rod you will be missed by many.

It’s going to be a lonely season in 2018. Sorry to hear that. A friend of mine committed suicide on Thursday. We coached a girls basketball team together for two years. He was stricken with cancer and couldn't take the treatments anymore. He fought it for over three years and the prognosis was terrible.

we started out with so many on this board. We switched I think this is our 3rd board. We lost a lot of followers over what probably 12-15 years? We lost the Professer what 3-4 years ago? It wont be the same. I hope we go all the way this year for Rod.
