I was almost as disappointed in watching the Lions select C Frank Ragnow one spot ahead of the Bengals as I was when the Bengals drafted WR Jerome Simpson in round two of the 2008 draft. To be quite blunt, the Bengals should've been proactive and traded up to get C Frank Ragnow. Instead, they stood pat and lost out on the best C to come out of college since Alex Mack. When will this organization understand what the drafts about and the strategies that lie within? They had 11 picks to play around with for crying out loud.
Don't get me wrong, the Bengals are stronger at the C position with the drafting of C Billy Price than they were last year with turnstile C Russell Bodine. Actually, they're quite a bit better off. But why draft a second round talent in round one in such a talent rich draft? Most prognosticators had Price being available to the Bengals in round two. And what about C James Daniels? 99% of draft gurus had him ranked above Ragnow? I just don't get it yet I do.
Negatives: Stands and watches the action more than I'd like which leads to him not playing through the whistle consistently. Most scouts would disagree with this analysis. Watch his film and tell me what you see. Currently injured.
Positives: Very strong. Anchors excellently. DT's and NT's rarely get through or around him. This is a huge asset considering he's playing in the AFC North. His strength allows him to play aggressively and confidently. Throws smaller opponents around like rag dolls. Isn't shy nor quiet. Very outgoing. Loves joking around with his teammates keeping them loose during games and practices. Possesses a very positive, sort of happy personality all day long. Will be a great locker room presence.
