It was good seeing Winker in the lead off spot today. Looking at the lineup it kinda looks weak to me especially the bottom 3 hitters too. Maybe it’s just me. Take out Hamilton and Peraza and put in Senzel and Duvall looks much stronger to me. Gawd.

That looks more like a roster that can produce with not many holes. I know it’s the first day but maybe this lineup will be in soon.

Man those top 4 can be scary good. I was dead wrong I know it's only one game but I thought Billy would be leading off on opening day. Cozart would look good in that lineup. HR and 2B yesterday leading off for ANA. I am just not a Peraza fan. I guess he would be okay as a bench guy. We need a CF and a SS badly. I like Schebler and I think he could play CF at least as good as Choo did. Play him in CF at home and in smaller OFs on the road. Play Billy in big ball parks. Seems simple to me. Billy could be a weapon pinch running and remaining in the game in CF when we have a lead.

Well boys, no fucking Opening Day for me. MLB.tv had me blacked out because we're playing the Nationals. Fucking bullshit. Not on ESPN or anywhere on my cable. A hell of an opening day for me. Yall enjoy the game. Guess I'll listen to the radio feed.

Watching the top of the 1st inning, I'm reminded by a big issue that this team is going to have to face, and that's defense. It's just not very good. First hitter hits a ball off the end of the bat to right field. Schebler holds up on it, and let's it drop. A dive and he probably has it, and BH was right behind him backing him up. Then, ball hit up the middle, defense is playing that way, and Peraza still can't get there, and only gets a glove on the ball. Double play ball to get Bailey out of the inning; perfect throw from Suarez, and Scooter eats Votto up with a tough thrown ball in the dirt, so inning continues with a run in. Lots of extra outs that Bailey had to get, that he wouldn't have had to get in 2010 - 2013.

He was Billy Hamilton with equal defense and less speed. He was tolerated and broke out at age 31. Now all of the sudden he is deemed a golden god since he's gone. I am souring on Peraza too but he gets more time with me both offensively and defensively. 45 years from now we can make this comparison of Peraza to Cozart. That is only fair. |

I finally got around to watching yesterday's game. Peraza sucks. He needs a replacement ASAP. Bailey looked great. Scherzer was on his game yesterday. 7 Ks in a row, wow! Scooter looked great up against the possibly #2 pitcher in the league.
Where was Duvall on opening day?
And minor nitpick, but in a one run game, why were the stands 3/4 empty after the 7th inning stretch. Fair weather fans... I guess I can't blame them after the past few seasons, but it's Opening Day. Of all days, stay for the entirety of the game on Opening Day.
