...and most of you are as well. The problems with this team are extremely obvious, as are the answers/fixes. Unfortunately, this franchise is burdened with the worst owner in all of professional sports and the worst head coach in the league.
Like I've posted time and time again, Marvin Lewis does not instill any discipline into his players whatsoever. Not. One. Single. Ounce! Andre Smith gets things started by being penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct, then Mixon gets into a scrap with a Jag defender and AJ Green gets tossed for punching Jalen Ramsey (and unlike what's being reported, Ramsey started the fight by shoving AJ Green from behind. It's called unnecessary roughness). However, the Jaguars have been pushing, grabbing, blocking, etc., after the whistle all day in an attempt to get the Bengals to retaliate. I hope the league punishes all Jag players involved, but I'm not holding my breath.
Like my first post stated back in 2007; Marvin Lewis doesn't have the mental fortitude to lead a team to a Super Bowl win and Mike Brown will go down in history as one of, it not thee, worst owner ever due to greediness, ego, stubbornness and being out of touch with reality in general.
Here's a list of all the problems the team has experienced today.
1. Ownership. Mike Brown said that he was going to retain all of the teams great players that deserve a contract extension. Every time you watch Dalton make a boneheaded play, keep in mind that Brown broke this promise by allowing Andrew Whitworth and Kevin Zeitler to walk, even though the team had tons of cap space. If Brown would've signed both players, the Bengals would still be millions and millions of dollars beneath the salary cap. Mike Brown is the most prolific 'Ebenezer Scrooge' in all of sports.
2. Head Coach. Lewis continues to play older players over younger players, even when it's obvious that the younger player is a better player. Dre Kirkpatrick should be benched in favor of WJIII. WJIII is a far better player than Kirkpatrick and a benching is what Kirkpatrick needs. By benching Kirkpatrick, Lewis may actually wake him up and get him to play at a higher level. Lewis literally rewards bad play with more playing time. What kind of message does that send to the players? And don't forget about the kicker decision. Fifth round draft pick Jake Elliott had a great preseason and looked like the teams kicker for the next ten years, but Lewis decided to go with the veteran kicker instead based on one preseason. Forget the fact that Randy Bullock had played for multiple teams only to be cut due to inconsistency.
3. Lack of discipline. It doesn't exist within the organization, unless you count Brown's greediness. Lewis does not bring any discipline to this team at all and I've seen multiple examples of such in todays game. Here's a few. A. Many of the players have been successfully 'baited' by Jaguar players into scuffles which has led to penalties and an ejection. B. Burfict has been out of position on a few passing downs, as has the entire defensive backfield. C. Defensive players have whiffed on multiple tackles. D. Players continue to free-lance and the team as a whole only playa with about 80% effort.
4. Bill Lazor. Is Bob Bratkowski available? We now know why Bill Lazor was canned as offensive coordinator of the Dolphins. Lazor's game plan is beyond predictable. Defenses know what plays are going to be called and where they're going with the ball on almost every single snap. Lazor doesn't seem to understand the concept of 'keeping defenses guessing' by installing a creative and/or imaginative offensive game plan. Oh the days of Sam Wyche...
So, should I try to set up a meeting with the organization in an attempt to become the teams general manager? Anyone else interested in applying? Seriously, this teams problems are so obvious, a blind monkey could make better decisions. Here's what needs to happen this week.
1. Marvin Lewis should be fired tomorrow.
2. Gunether should be inserted as the teams head coach for the remainder of the season.
3. AJ McCarron should be inserted as the teams starter.
4. Bill Lazor should be fired tomorrow. He's terrible.
5. Insert a veteran OC from outside the organization.
6. Players should be assigned roommates. Offensive players paired with their counterparts on defense.
7. Waive Adam Jones. Jones has been detrimental in the development of Dre Kirkpatrick and it shows. He's poison to any team he's on.
8. WJIII, Carl Lawson, Jordan Willis, Ryan Glasgow, AJ McCarron and Josh Malone should be inserted as starters.
9. Christian Westerman, Jake Dielman, Alex Redman, John Ross, Andrew Billings and Josh Evans should get more playing time. These guys need to learn on the field.
10. Press conferences need to be more open and honest. I'm not suggesting that the Bengals should divulge info that should be kept secret such as a game plan, but the fans deserve more info than Lewis is providing. His smug grin and giggling (especially after losses) has worn out it's welcome. The fanbase has had it with these type of shenanigans. For example, what's up with Tyler Boyd? We fans deserve some sort of answer. Is Boyd injured? Is his absence due to personal reasons? Did he break team rules? Drug possession? Drunk driving? We've all heard the rumors, so some clarification isn't going to hurt anyone including Boyd.

Thanks clinz. The one thing I hope every Bengal fan understands is that Mike Brown is the main problem with this team and it's been this way for over twenty years now. Yes, Lewis sucks as a head coach, but a good owner would have fired him a decade ago (literally). One reason Brown continues to employ him is because he (Brown) is comfortable with Lewis. Brown realizes that he has an 'all day sucker' in Lewis meaning that Lewis will continue to coach the team regardless of Browns nuttiness.
Lastly, we had way more discipline on our high school football team than Lewis has ever dreamed of having. Folks, the Bengals are the worst team in the league when you take everything into consideration. This franchise has no hope as long as Brown is in control. Don't be surprised if some of the teams better players don't ask for a trade or sign elsewhere once their current contract expires. Truthfully, I don't blame them one bit if they decide to leave. I'd do the same thing. Who wants to play for an owner that only cares about squeezing every red cent out of this team than winning a Super Bowl. Dunlap, Green, Atkins, Bernard, Boling, Iloka, etc., all deserve better.

I've known this a long while 77! You are the man. Not only for seeing the field on all this but having the patience to articulate it. My basic take is you can't have a miserly owner whose football intelligence is dwarfed by his ego and self over evaluation. Add to that a black head coach, whose faith centric preoccupation with "making them good men" leads to a babysitting situation team wide. There is a distinct lack of vision, lack of discipline, and in that environment mediocrity is the ceiling. And that is precisely what we have gotten. We rely on the irrationale of our hearts and adopt mentalities we had as 9-10 year old kids. In essence to lobotomize ourselves and discard our own intelligence and vision, just to be able to come to the table and attempt to enjoy this team. Separating church from state(players from coaches/owner) in an attempt to clear our conscience of how dysfunctional our relationship is to our hometown team and how inept they are. AJ is a class man all the way. When his frustration is starting to boil over, there is definitely something rotten in Denmark. And at best all we will have is a new incarnation of mediocrity and we can fool ourselves again for a few more years as our own death draws near. I think we are going to our graves without ever a sniff of a championship. It sucks!

Someone in the media should read this Thread. We have all been saying this for years. Nothing has been done to change MB or ML. I is getting very frustrating to have all these young and talented players not performing as they should.
At the beginning of the season we said it would depend on the OL on how good this year would be. We have found out. They have not been well coached.

But I doubt most of them are as bad as they have played. It is coaching. The O-LINE coach needs fired at once. Get a new voice and new blocking scheme. Anyone noticed how all game long the Jags was doing Picks on there WR routes. Legal ones. The bengals WR'S never drag over the middle or use rub routes. The Offence is so Vanilla. Any half decent Def. Cordinator is gonna stop it stone cold.

This has been building up for some time with him. I watch him closely during games. Cause he is one of but a handful of players on the team worth watching. The past couple weeks leading up to the Jags game I have noticed a change in him. Throwing his hands up in frustration after playes ended ETC. Things I have never noticed him doing before. He has had enough of the clown show. And it built up to a major blowup yesterday. The Jags DB was just the final straw for AJ IMO.

I bet he wins his grievence and Bengals have zero chance of signing him if he does. He probably wants out of there as fast as he can get out and who could blame him.

I think someone in the media may have read this thread Choco, because a similar article can be found on Cincy Jungle that brings up many of the same points. Link below. I do know that sports writers all over country occasionally visit message boards to get ideas for their own article(s). If this thread was used, it wouldn't be the first time. A writer(s) at The Cincinnati Enquirer 'borrowed' a few of my ideas (posts) back when all of us use to post on their Bengals message board. I took it as a compliment. One of these articles was almost a duplicate of a post that I had presented one or two days earlier. I was actually excited about seeing my posts being used by a major newspaper. I called them on it but indicated that I was cool with it. I asked if they would be interested in having me send them other posts and/or ideas in the future and they said they would. www.cincyjungle.com/2017/11/6/16610608/time-for-the-bengals-make-big-changes

We all know what's going on within this organization as does the entire NFL community. Mike Brown has a terrible reputation throughout the NFL. To be truthful, he's viewed as a joke by many. If I were Mike Brown, I wouldn't want to leave this earth knowing that I would be remembered as one of the worse owners in the history of professional sports. Paul Brown would roll over in his grave if he knew of the mess that his son has created. The bad play we're all witnessing is just a symptom of a much larger problem - ownership.

Ramsey was eventually escorted away by security and others. Let Ramsey run his mouth in front of Burfict and a locker room fight will be the last thing on his mind...

Good video. It's obvious that Dave Lapham is doing everything he can to keep himself from going berserk. It seems apparent that he wants to rip into Brown, Lewis and other coaches. Gotta admire his professionalism. Lapham is more than aware that this is the most dysfunctional organization in the league. If Mike Brown were to go through a thorough mental evaluation, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if it was determined that he has a personality disorder or other type of mental handicap. The decisions he's making defies all logic.
