Has been really good last 3 outings. I know very short sample size but it is promising. Romano has been good as well last 3 times out. I have been calling for these guys to start all season. Instead they jerked Stephenson around and put him in the pen on opening day. Didn't pitch him for 10 days and expect good results. We were never gonna contend this year. We could have saw a full season of Romano,Stephenson to get a better feel going into next season to see what we have in these guys. Instead we are gonna get 5-6 weeks of regular starts. There was zero reason to run out Arroyo,Adelman,Bonilla types to start with.
Phil Ervin should be playing fulltime from here on out as well as Winker when or if he gets healthy. Bladino and Peraza should be playing as well. We know what Cozart,Scooter,Hamilton can do. Lets give the kids a month long run to see what they can do. That is what a team rebuilding does. I highly doudt this club will play the kids though.

Stephenson was recalled because he showed control over a few starts in AAA. Reed and Garrett on the other hand are not so there they sit. I like that it has to be earned. I did a little write up on the pitching today. Check it out. The 4 young starters that are here are the 4 I want here.
We don't need 6 outfielders and Ervin has been mediocre his entire minor league career above A ball so I could really care less. But Winker should start because next year I am hoping the Billy experiment is over. I don't think he will ever hit. Big dropoff in CF defense but so what. There are a lot of playoff teams over the years that win without great D. We have a top 4 D so I am fine with only a top 10 rank if we make up for it hitting better. Winker is definitely an OBP guy and I think will show more power as well.

Rod,I think they will trade one of the OFers in the offseason. I just hope it's not Winker. I would be ok with Duvall or Schebler being traded with a prospect if it would get us a young cost controlled pitcher. I would be ok with a OF of Winker Hamilton and either Schebler or Duvall. But only if we get a manager who has enough sense to bat Hamilton 9th. I still would like to see more of Ervin. He has goten on base in AAA this year. At very least I think he would make a seviceable bench piece next year. Maybe platoon vs. LHP and Def replacement/pinch runner. I am looking foward to next season. I just hope by no later than May that Senzel is up and playing everyday as well as Winker.
