Offense is playing some angry man ball and that can be a good thing! Bashing 7 HR's the first 2 games it had to be disheartening watching the pitching allow 22 runs. Been taking their walks but again light on the RISP. This was a winnable series if we can make 9 runs stick in game 1 Jesus! The pitching just turns you into a channel changer. I guess Brad is right that less innings and plain just less junk callups to eat innings gets the bullpen better. But were still in extended spring training with most starts going 5 or less. That has happened in 9 of the last 13 games. In 3 of the other 4 games there have been quality starts. 1 from Castillo and 2 from Romano. Which brings me to Romano. He is only 23 this year and doesn't have a ton of mileage on him as a high school prospect. Ever since he went less than 4 innings and walked 6, his last 5 starts have looked like this. He decided he was going to throw strikes for better or worse. And he at least completed 6 innings in 4 of 5 starts. And his last 2 have been gems. Tonight vs a good team. Progress. Maybe just small steps but we have talked all year about the young pitchers not trusting their stuff and it has continued in the minors for pitchers like Reed and Stephenson. He is another one with Castillo I look forward to seeing every turn. I hope Mahle is up next week to join them.
