Offense bashed the first 2 games of the series before fading quietly. But not before securing the series. Heavy on the walks but light on the RISP. Still have maintained top 10 status and are pacing 776 runs which is real progress and the best offense since 2010. The bullpen on the other hand has been in a free fall. Maintaining top 10 status for more than 2 months into this this they have plummeted to 29th of 30 teams. We keep thinking in term of getting a good rotation but basically we are talking about rebuilding an entire pitching staff. The Reds are on pace to allow 910 runs which is the worst since the 1894 Reds and 2nd most in reds history. The starters were good overall but only Romano had a quality start. His best in the bigs. The other 2 failed to get beyond 5 innings. We have played 126 games. Leaving just 36 to go. Gives me a tinge of sadness. The season is flying by. And it does that when you reach mid June and they are failing miserably. Nothing like the highlight of a competitive team throughout a summer. I sure as hell miss it and it looks like it's going to be a little while. Anyway let's catch a September game before it's gone for another season!

I still think the rotation has been the biggest issue with the bullpen. When you're asking 4 innings or more every game because the starter can't make it through 5, it's going to wear those guys down too fast, which is what we've seen. I think they are probably closer to the first few months instead of the last couple.
