Well its Football season again. Hows everyone feeling? Opinions comments?
I am excited about a few things. John Ross, Mixon, and our new additions on defense. I just hope, they don't do a repeat and run Hill even though hes not playing well just because hes a vet. I think Mixon will be awesome and will be a gift to the OL. I think its going to be an exciting year and I'm looking forward to it.

Well I was hoping to get a discussion going on the board its dying. I am worried about the defense they are stinking it up. Offense moving ball but can't score. OL shows some flashes of pass protection, but can't open holes for the RBS. Doesn't look good but too early to panic. Still a couple key players missing.

I haven't seen the Chiefs game yet. I got it recorded on the NFL channel. Having read recaps it doesn't sound like our DB's are doing so good. The first team of Tampa Bay went right down the field without much effort. I still think the defense is the strength of this team but so far they haven't shown it. It is still preseason and ML has not done well in preseason. I say that believing that he should not be the Head Coach. We will see who makes the team and in the first game against the Ravens how good this team is. I agree with you Lostwou that Mixon looks like the real thing. OL is better than I thought but I will have to wait until regular season to really make an opinion. We will hear some "Smack" from JJ the week before the Ravens game.

Perfect thread to get a lot off of my chest. 1. The coaching staff continues to be just average, at best. Discipline and the inability to get the most out of the players are two of the teams biggest problems. If I were to sum up the Bengals offense in one word, that word would be 'eclectic'. They're all over the place. Nothing makes much sense. They have no identity and plays are called as if they're being drawn from a hat. An even approach that gets everyone involved in the offense and continues to use them consistently throughout games would be the wisest of moves. This offense is loaded with talent and it should be hard for ANY defense to stop them regardless of who or where they're playing. Dalton, Green, Ross, Core, LaFell, Malone, Eifert, Mixon, Hill and Bernard make up a downright scary offense, but I doubt Zampese uses them properly and consistently. 2. Overall, the team doesn't look sharp which leads me to believe that the basics, such as tackling, aren't being emphasized nearly enough in practice. Plays should be practiced until these guys can run them in their sleep. Being overly repetitive in practice is the key. 3. They can't stop the run and if this isn't fixed immediately, it's gonna be a long season. Billings is young, so lets hope he emerges as a run stuffer before long. Marcus Hardison needs more snaps as he to could push for a starting role. DT Josh Topou is another consideration. He's played really well so far and at 350 pounds, he's hard to move. 4. Michael Johnson should in no way be this teams starting LDE and he should probably be waived. Johnson isn't only unproductive, he's actually a liability getting thrown to the ground by LT's play after play. His playing days left town two years ago. No reason to keep him on the roster at his current salary. Funny, but I think I smell a Peko/Geathers type situation brewing. 5. As of now, Chris Smith or Jordan Willis should be the teams starting LDE on opening day. Both of them have earned it with outstanding play. Both have consistently pressured the QB and Willis has two sacks so far. One scenario that I personally like would have Smith inserted as the teams opening day starter with Willis coming in off the bench to relieve him. However, if Willis becomes the more productive player at some point during the season, he should become the teams starter. This would allow Smith to relieve both Dunlap and Willis which would be an ideal situation. 6. Jake Elliot and Josh Bullock continue to battle for the K job and both have looked good this spring but I think the Bengals should give Elliot the job. Elliot has a bigger leg, is a younger player, has more upside, has shown a tougher mentality and the Bengals used a 5th round selection on him. But the main reason I like Elliot over Bullock is this: Elliot's extra point and field goal attempts have been right down the middle more often than Bullock's. Several of Bullock's made kicks barely squeaked through the uprights. This is troubling considering his past troubles and inability to come through in the clutch.

Finally saw the game against the Chiefs. Not as bad as I thought but still not good. Yes 77 coaching is a problem. DL need to stay in their lanes to prevent all of the cutbacks. DB's are not as strong as they should be. Offense looks good except for the Red Zone. When will they score a TD.

Marvin Lewis still doesn't realize that a coach is suppose to insert his best players into starting roles, not players that are underperforming and clearly not as productive as other players on the roster. Micheal Johnson should in no way, shape nor form be a starter on this team opening day. He's done. Besides Dunlap, this teams future at DE is Jordan Willis and Chris Smith. Hopefully one of these two players start in the next preseason game, but I doubt they get the nod. Lewis isn't brave enough to sit unproductive veterans and start younger and more productive players in their place. We've seen this type of behavior out of Lewis time and again. This is definitely a coach that doesn't learn from his mistakes whether it be choosing starters, game clock management, unpreparedness, poor practices, etc.

Did anybody see the hit? I watched most of the game yesterday but failed to see it. But if all accounts are true I'm not happy we got 2 ghetto motherfuckers on our team heading into a season I'm feeling tinges of optimism about.

I just saw the replay on the news. This is total bullshit. It's a crock of BS. The block was legal. The league is simply picking on him because they think they can. If a similar situation arises again involving Burfict, the Bengals may want to take it out of the leagues hands and file a formal lawsuit against the commissioner and/or the league.

Yeah that's crazy man. It is outta control. I don't think a 1 game suspension even applies. The Lingerie League isn't this wimpy!

We are the Bengals. Only Pittsburg can have "Agressive" players. If we have one they are called "Dirty" players. They are out to get Burfict at every turn.
On a good note, John Ross injury is not serious. So that's a plus. Next weekend it all begins! Football is back! Now everyone, bow your heads while I say a prayer...
Dear Lord, GO BENGALS! AMEN!

I'm ready. I'm mildly excited but am definitely optimistic. Much like the Reds season I went into it thinking if they get mediocre starting pitching they'd be good. I think the same about the Bengals. All the other pieces I think are there. So WhoDey! Let's roll...........................!!
