Start the 2nd half of the year with the 2nd worst offensive series of the year with a .556 OPS. Starters wouldn't be outdone though. They posted up a double digit ERA for the the 4th time in 28 series. On the year in 92 games we have but 30 quality starts. And the bullpen surprisingly posted up an ERA better than 5.00 for the 9th time in 28 series. Plus swept in a 4 game series yay.... Luis Castillo, the first pitcher the Reds have called up from AA in eons is now our ace. Although Feldman and Bailey also have 2 quality starts in their last 3 outings.

That bullpen ERA would have been atrocious if it wasn't for Asher Wojo and the work done yesterday.

That bullpen ERA would have been atrocious if it wasn't for Asher Wojo and the work done yesterday. Yeah overall 8 innings and 1 ER was impressive. The previous 8 bullpen innings yielded 13 ER!

That bullpen ERA would have been atrocious if it wasn't for Asher Wojo and the work done yesterday. He was good Sunday too. 2 IP, 0 ER, 3 K. As a reliever he only has 14 innings but a 1.29 ERA and 16 K. He's looked confident in that role. To me that is just as important as finding starters. Guys who might pan out like this in the pen.

Good call on Wojo. I been thinking same thing. Never give this guy another start. But he is still fairly young and has been nails in a long man role. I am just happy Castillo,Romano and Stephenson is in rotation. Now stop giving Adelman starts and look at Mahle or Stephens. I have saw enough of the stop gap pitchers. Pitch the kids we are going to be in last no matter who pitches but why not look at guys who have some upside and sort out who will and who won't be here in 18 and beyond. We know Adelman won't be nor will Feldman. I am ok for him to get one more start after he gets off D.L. to show teams he is healthy so he can be traded. Adelman though needs to be either in pen or DFA.

Just to let you know Rod I always look foward to stats and trends as bad as club plays I always check it out. just like I do Brad's minor league reports. THanks brother. I started doing these a long time ago because I knew that if you leave a bad team that you watch sparsely completely to the imagination it is easy to know that they are bad but not exactly why they are bad and what good is in the equation. I like doing the stuff that I do even when they are playing like this. It makes me feel like I am doing my fan due diligence when I am guilty of not watching more than I care to admit! Between the S n T and Brad's work you are pretty much up on everything with the team good or bad. I couldn't live without either!
