Came home to get an angle grinder at lunchtime. Sat down and turned on the TV. Field Of Dreams was on right when Costner was talking about SJJ's career. So looked it up. How about that rookie season? .408 AVG. 41 stolen bases! And his last 1920 season was by far his best overall. Amazing player. www.baseball-reference.com/players/j/jacksjo01.shtml

He was a great player. Wasn't he one of the few that didn't really tank during the Black Sox scandal?

Flaredleg he did have a great series and was still booted. Made an example of probably. Just like Pete.
Brad that would be amazing. I can't believe known cheaters are casually tolerated in the PED department but this is so egregious. It's bullshit.

Joe moved back to SC and ran a liquor store for most of the rest of his life. He seemed to have been at peace with being banned. Most who remember him from this time all say he was a great guy. As far as the Black Sox scandal, I think the story goes that Joe had knowledge that the fix was on, but chose to play hard anyway.

When TY Cobb praises you then you know Jackson was great. Cobb said he was best hitter he ever saw and Cobb wasn't known to throw out compliments.

Man, I'd love to hop into the wayback machine and go to a game or two from that era.

Man, I'd love to hop into the wayback machine and go to a game or two from that era. LSD. Roger Sterling was watching the 1919 World Series from the bathtub in Mad Men. I'd like to do all 3!
