Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. No truer words could be spoken to describe Marvin Lewis' inability to keep his players healthy. Over the last several years, the Bengals have endured more injuries to the teams star players than just about every other team in the league. One would think that Lewis would learn from his previous mistakes but apparently he hasn't. Lewis continues to put his players health in jeopardy by not using what many would describe as 'good old common sense' and today was just another example.
After a rainstorm passed through the area, Lewis had the team resume practice even though the field was still wet and very slippery. Needless to say, WR Cody Core went down soon afterwards with what appeared to be a serious injury to his ankle. Later reports have stated that Core's injury appears to be minor and he should be ready to go by training camp. Hopefully this is info is accurate. Why in the world would a coach that has had a big problem with keeping his players healthy, have them practice on a slippery field? It makes no sense whatsoever especially when considering that todays practice was fairly meaningless. I wonder if Lewis and company stress to the players on what they should and shouldn't do to give them the best opportunity to avoid injury. Looking at this teams injury history, I think not.
