My spirits for the home team fell to a season low after the Atlanta series. And the road ahead before the allstar break with 19 road games and a plethora of winning teams looms ahead. But this was an absolutely amazing Reds comeback in so many ways. And they showed they have both heart and talent. Coming into this series they had hit .210 and .230 collectively in the prior 2 series'. Which had not happened since 15 series ago. And the team ERA's in those 2 were 10.13 and 5.52. Including a starter era in both over 9.00. By all measures facing the Cardinals, who coming in had the best rotation in baseball, and our starters who had struggled mightily still pitching in GABP, all these numbers wowed. Only twice all season have we had a team series OPS over .900(SF and Col). We not only bounced back from two .700 OPS but had our 3rd .900+ OPS of the year and hit over .300 in AVG and RISP while scoring over 7 runs a game avg. And to sweep a 4 game series and post these numbers is amazing. The walks for entire staff were exactly 2.00 BB9. Huge. We had 3 quality starts and those 3 were better than the standard definition. We get that and I think we can beat any team. Consistency obviously being key. The bullpen was flawless til Brice allowed a 2 run bomb yesterday. They are showing grit and guts. Less work=better. Whip under 1.00. Team ERA sub 2.50. Lord help us at least stay .500 before the ASB. We have pitching reinforcements coming and an easier schedule in the 2nd half. Cross your fingers!
