The swings of this season have been extreme. Sweeps and losing streaks are far more damaging than just losing a series. Lose a 3 game series and you lost 1 game in the standings. Get swept and you lost 3. Total damage. But overall a 3-4 road trip.
We had 2 opportunities to win at least a game in this series and the bullpen blew it for us. Which is not their nature thus far. Even without game 1, 2 run bombs twice led to the sweep. The peripherals in the K9 might have been a telltale sign of fatigue Excepting the 2 game Yankee series they have never been below 7.0 K9 til the 4.5 K9 and 5.4 K9 the last 2 series. Either way we crossed the 200 inning mark a few days ago and have pitched more than 50 more innings than the top bullpen. Anyway the offense sputtered throughout the series. 6 HR's accounted for most of our run scoring but we didn't hit much else. This was the worst hitting line since Baltimore 12 series ago.
Tim Adleman had the only quality start in the series and became only the 2nd starter to have back to back quality starts this season. A sad indictment of this rotation. Go home and regroup.
