Lamenting we beat a horrible team in Philly? Don't. We did what we were supposed to do and amazingly how is it possible we haven't won there since 06? Besides that is a suicide watch, lame duck argument, hellbent on misery. We beat the AL Champs in the series prior. Enjoy the upswings of the season. Hell enjoy that this phase of the rebuild is yielding some good baseball sans starting pitching. All I crossed my fingers for was to be around .500 til we get some starters back. So far so good.
Other than game 1 we hit well and scored plenty. 16 runs and for the 4th straight series hit .286 or better with RISP. Walks and speed were lacking but power was not. In fact since the debacle in San Fran we have scored nearly 6 runs a game and hit over .300 with RISP. We are in every game with this O.
Where did Adelman come up with that game from? Sure the Phils added the most important part of the conspiracy but Adelman had a few solid starts before his prior 2 disasters in which he was injured in one. Nice game. The vets aren't doing their part on innings but kept us in the games. Overall with a sub 1.00 WHIP and sub 2 BB9 the starters were efficient. Bullpen was very good without being glittery in the peripherals. After alarm bells were going off a few series ago they have allowed but 2 runs in their last 22.2 innings and dropped to 6th of all 30 teams.
Big task for the pitching in Toronto. Can't wait til we get some starting reinforcements. Bailey and Finnegan are pretty close.
Anyway happy Memorial Day all! Forcing myself to get a jumpstart on the week and work today but see you on the gamethread.
