I think it's possible for the Bengals to have a great season, but a few problems must be addressed first.
1) Mike Brown: Is Brown willing to spend a bit more to strengthen some weak areas/positions on the team and thus make the team competitive this year or not? History's not on our side, but it's hard to imagine Brown not understanding how important it is to keep his QB standing upright and healthy which leads to the next hurdle.
2) The offensive line: This unit was bad last year and they just lost their two best players. Adding Andre Smith was a cheap move and one that I only give a 50/50 chance of paying off. The best we fans can hope for at this point is that the coaching staff knows something we don't and are confident that the youngsters can get the job done or Brown opens up his wallet and signs some vets.
3) Marvin Lewis: The success of this team is mostly going to rest on Lewis and his staff. Do they have what it takes to get the job done? History says 'no' and Zampese looked bad last year. Not looking good guys.
4) Inexperience: It was well past time to send Peko, Maualuga and others packing, but it's gonna take some time for the newbies to gel by getting the experience they need. Too bad Adam Jones wasn't released. All he's gonna do is clog up one side of the field thus stunting the growth of Dennard, Shaw, Russell and WJIII. There's not another team in the league that would keep him on their roster if they were in the Bengals situation.

I think we should be more excited about the Mixon pick. He really was the best RB in the draft if it weren't for one incident. Hes going to surprise a lot of people. I think Cedric will settle in at LT which is where he should have been. Smith will hold the right side fine.
Critics keep saying they had a bad draft because they didn't address the OL. There was not much talent there this year. If they had drafted someone high then they would be saying the same thing they are saying about Ross. They over reached.
77 What do you think? Should the bengals think about nick mangold at the right price?

77 What do you think? Should the bengals think about nick mangold at the right price? Yes including some other veterans. The OL has a ton of question marks and that's never a good thing. Mangold would be a great addition not only because he would be an upgrade over Bodine, but also because he could mentor the younger players. Trading McCarron is another option unless the Bengals are set on having him take over for Dalton sometime.

I can't believe I forgot this 'hurdle': health. The Bengals have been one of the most injury ridden teams in terms of having significant injuries occur to significant players over the last several years. An injury to Dalton right before the teams last playoff appearance may have prevented them from knocking off the Steelers and making a Super Bowl run. A.J. Green has dealt with several injuries over the last few years as did Rex Burkhead and Vontaze Burfict. Giovani Bernard, Andrew Billings, Marcus Hardison and WJIII missed big chunks of last season if not the entire 2016 season. When it comes to keeping this teams best players healthy, something is not right and I don't think it all falls into the 'bad luck' category. Regardless, the coaching staff needs to do everything within their power to keep these guys healthy. Every single precaution should be taken to prevent injury. For example, if the grass has too much dew on it in the morning, delay practice until the grass is dry. I know this may sound a bit silly to some, but season ending injuries have occurred in the strangest ways whether it be a pick-up basketball game, a dirt bike accident, head butting a well, etc. Another words, emphasize safety to all the players even when they're not practicing. And make sure that no one delivers hard blows, low tackles to a players legs, a high hit to the head/helmet, etc.
