2 completely polar opposite but also completely negative amazing things happened these 2 series. We got the absolute best pitching of the season vs the Orioles only to have the offense, after putting up 9 runs in game 1 get 4 hits in 60 at bats in the last 2 games. We were 1 inning from having 3 quality starts. All 3 starters allowed 3 runs or less. Bullpen with a miniscule ERA had a 15 K9.

Then we turn right around and score 20 runs, get 2 quality starts, and the bullpen has it's worse series of the season. 5 quality starts and we win 2 games. We all have been worried about getting a chance from the rotation to win these games. We got it and blew it. Have to admit the O's and Cubs are 2 solid teams though but we should have pulled out both series. We have a lot going for us in talent but you can't blow 20 run series' and 5 QS. That's ridiculous. But good news is we still have a winning record in the last week of April and got a win yesterday. Let's keep it rolling. We owe Milwaukee some payback..

Noticed that we have the the best defense in the NL and 2nd in baseball. Tied for the highest .993 FPCT and only 5 errors and tied for the fewest unearned runs allowed with 3.
We are 16th in pitching with a 3.85 ERA.
The starting is ruining this stat as they have sunk to 27th with 4.43. The bullpen even after this weekend's disaster sits 9th with a 3.20. Most bullpens have 50-64 innings. We have 81 plus innings from the pen.
We are 5th in runs at 92 but other than Arizonas 105 runs the 2nd team in the Nats have only 93 runs. Making the O's debacle all the more perplexing.
Lot to be pleased with thus far. All the while knowing it was so close to better.
