Defense doing it's job at 9th Total defense (in yards per game). Midpack on sacks and passing but better against the run. The 20th rank in points per game is the big play ability thus far against us.
Offense unbelievable at 28th in rushing. But 3rd in passing gives us an overall 11th ranked Offense.
So we are almost a 10-10 team. That should get you better than .500. The last showing vs Miami was expected. Wanting to see a big effort vs a hot Dallas team this week.
Where you at and what are you thinking?

My thinking is a little off topic but...And I hate saying this. Eifert is good no doubt when he is on the field but he just cant seem to stay healthy! Now he tweaked his back and not practicing again. We need to look for another big red zone target. Not sure whats up with him.

Well a little more dispassionate this morning. Coming in .500 we were waiting for a "Statement" game. Well we got a statement alright.
Is this just complacency by a team used to winning and they arrogantly assumed wins?
Or are wee seeing a genuine decline in what had been a stable and consistent unit on D and simply an O-Line that is so lacking in talent we can't do anything on offense?
I do know the back end of the schedule is favorable and truly believe we are NOT playing up to our abilities. All we can do is sit back and wait and cross fingers...

So, where are you guys on the Week 6 match up? From my end, the Tomlin era Steelers have a very bad habit of losing the winnable games and winning the losable games. This weeks' match up is of the former variety, which makes me nervous. You guys have NE in NE. Any chance for an upset? Because damn, I hate Tom Brady and Bill Belichik THAT much.

There is probably a 10% chance!!! Does not look good for the Bengals this year. I have been harping on this for over 5 years. We need a new coach and complete changeover of assistants. I fear to think however that Mike Brown will make the selection of the new coach and require him to keep the assistants.

Lol! We've hung on the heels of our defense the last few years. Now that they are showing signs of decline and the offense has been reduced to a rudimentary but effective game plan (= double team Green/ kill Dalton) it very much looks like our bubble is bursting and window of opportunity closing. Sad to even think it. Choco is right. I started harping on the coaches last season and because of it that led to the demise of the other board! Excepting the O-Line I think we have the talent but not the coaching. They have proven they can field a contender and that is their ceiling. Next man to take us to the promised land!

Well, I called it for the Steelers today. Glad I was driving home from Atlantic City and missed the whole, sad affair. At least the Ravens and Bengals came thru for us.

AFC North teams are a collection of basket cases and thus inconsistency. All four teams could use a psychiatrist.
The Bengals are never going to win a Superbowl until Mike Brown is out of the picture. Brown has improved as an owner over the last several years, but he's still far from being a top-notch owner who's only concern is collecting Lombardi's regardless of the price.
Personally, I think Brown realizes that he's probably not going to win a Superbowl, so he's decided that his legacy will be that of an owner who was loyal to his players. The problem with taking this 'legacy path' is that it has really taken a toll on the teams chances of improving and thus winning games. Domata Peko and Russell Bodine are two such examples, but there was/is a slew of former players that were kept on the team far past their prime even when the team had better options sitting on the bench or available via the draft.

I fear to think however that Mike Brown will make the selection of the new coach and require him to keep the assistants. I agree choco that building a great team starts at the top and owner Mike Brown is still finding his way to say the least. Brown has improved over the last several years, but he's still far from being one of the top owners in the league. Basically, Brown has found a way to build a competitive team on the cheap but he hasn't shown the ability to build a world beater. And once Brown does step down, there's no guarantee of future success because his family will take over Browns role and there's a chance they will run the team in the same manner. Marvin Lewis is a good coach. One cannot become a head coach in the NFL without a proven track record of success and Lewis has had his fair share of success: as an assistant. As a head coach, Lewis has shown that he's not capable of winning playoff games. So what's the chance that he can win three or four playoff games in row and thus a Superbowl? If Lewis were coaching any other team in the league, he would've been fired years ago. If Lewis cares about the fans and players, he'll step down at the end of the season.

ML needs to go! Period! Every game especially the last two, again horrible time management! The Bengals are the worst team by far when it comes to hurry up offense. They show no sense of urgency when they are behind. They may not huddle, but slow as hell. They still take up most the entire clock to get the ball off. It pisses me off to no end! Then they run the ball unbelievable! When a team is in hurry up offense they should be able to score in under 2 minutes. Last week it took them over 5 min to score and that was their hurry up. Are you kidding? Its like they give up. They have the we are going to lose but lets at least get some more points on the board attitude. They had a chance to win last week but time ran out because they showed no urgency! Never give up a game! You never know what can happen. I'm over it.

I played horseshoes yesterday and went to a funeral today. The term "Fuck the Bengals" sounds apropos!
They got not fun real fast didn't they? 77 we were noticing this shit late last year and we lost a board because we spoke up...We have talent. This coaching sucks cocks.

I was thinking they may have a chance when they held the Pats to a field goal and then marched down the field only to be stopped at the one yard line. I knew it was over then.
