Here's a summary chart from the Reds picks in the first 10 rounds. In the rank column, MLB.com ranked their Top 200, Baseball America Top 500. Looks like the Reds took some questionable pitchers today.

Couple of Notes:
-2nd Rd pick Chris Okey is expected to sign and be assigned to Billings -6th Rd pick Tyler Mondile is expected to skip college and sign as well. Probably will take some money over slot to do so.

I like the Senzel pick not only because of what he sounds like but that he will get here fast. There is such a disconnect with a baseball draft as opposed to a football draft. Most high level NFL picks you'll see immediately. In baseball a good timeline is 3 years. Other than casual glances I don't really get high on these guys til they reach AA and are performing. With us it's AAA. Then there is the arbitration and super-2 considerations once they get to that point. It's like by the time they get here you've been screaming uncle for 2 years about players! Once they get some numbers under them though you can get a feel. The Senzel pick if he could make it here quickly could set us up nicely on the infield.

I like the Senzel pick too. Haven't had much time to look him up, but Brad gave a nice review as usual. What we've got over at 3rd in Suarez is just a stop gap, he's got a nice bat, but his fielding is atrocious! He side steps too much like he's scared of the ball. Seems afraid to take one in the chest. My Junior College (and High School coach, same guy) would have benched me in a second if I did that. He still holds the record for errorless innings playing SS at Troy State. I only played at Chipola Jr. College, the same one as Jose Batista (I was way before his time). I couldn't hit a breaking pitch for shit, but could damn sure play Short. Great thing about being local in this small time all my life is I still see him from time to time at the grocery store, Taco Bell or Walmart.
Oh, I met Jose Batista when he was at Chipola a few times, he's a nice guy, but got in his fair share of dorm fights.....imagine that.

MLB.com has an article about the 5 teams with the most promising draft hauls, and listed our dearly beloved Reds at #4.
Here's is their take:
"Cincinnati really cleaned up on Thursday night, getting the best college hitter (Tennessee third baseman Nick Senzel, first round, No. 2), one of the best high school athletes (Georgia outfielder Taylor Trammell, supplemental first) and the best all-around college catcher (Clemson's Chris Okey, second). The Reds balanced those bats with several live arms afterward in Minnesota prep right-hander Nick Hanson (third), Florida lefty Scott Moss (fourth), Texas A&M right-hander Ryan Hendrix (fifth) and New Jersey high school righty Tyler Mondile (sixth). They got two more on Saturday with college righties Joel Kuhnel (Texas-Arlington, 11th) and Mitchell Traver (Texas Christian, 17th), both of whom can reach the mid-90s but have health concerns"
