With the house cleaning pretty much done. What do you guys think? They could trade Dalton. We will have I think 11 picks again? If Kyle Murray enters that would make odds better for us to draft a QB. If so, would this be a good move? His cap hit could clear the way for FA signings. What do you guys think? Good move, bad move? And who would you target in draft?

That’s a damn good question. IMO it’s definitely the next big question. Head coach and staff was #1 issue. QB is always on top of the list. Personally, I would probably draft other needs at the moment. Maybe with the coaching change and change in philosophy ( time will tell) how will the Bengals play in Free Agency. I think that could be a big sign on how this franchise moves forward. If you have a chance to take Haskins, I’d pull the trigger.

I think I mentioned in another post also, we will see if there is a difference in how we approach the draft and FA as to who was controlling things.

I’d probably still grab the best player available. LSU’s LB White could still be available. If he is, I’d scoop him up in a heartbeat. OL has to be addressed too. There’s a lot of holes to be filled before QB though. It should be interesting to see how it plays out because a lot could change because of free agency.

I wouldn't pass him up. But did you see the list of the 2019 FAs? A lot of great players. We could use the cap money we would save but what could we realistically get for Dalton? If we did trade Dalton taking a shot at Nick Foles could be a way to go.

Well a victory by the Rams yesterday. Our coach in waiting ( allegedly) announcements will be delayed for another week but his quest for a Super Bowl continues one. The selfish part of me wants them to lose but in reality I’d love to see him help win it. That would be awesome to have a Super Bowl winning coach coming on board. News broke last night that the Rams wouldn’t mind if the announcement is made. I believe the Rams did that out of respect for Taylor and the Bengals for the Bengals showed respect to the Rams for not wanting to be a distraction through their playoff off run. So I believe we’ll have an announcement this week. The off-season is looking strong from the outset. Let’s keep this momentum going. Let’s see money spent in free agency, maybe make player and draft pick trades . Have an identity on offense, some creativity. A new voice. I want to feel what our future head coach is feeling. I’m rooting for the Rams to win the SB and it was nice seeing Whitworth finally get a playoff win.

If so, would this be a good move? His cap hit could clear the way for FA signings. What do you guys think? Good move, bad move? And who would you target in draft? New regimes eventually bring in new QB's. That's why I had the Bengals trading Dalton in my mock draft. The chances that Dalton is going to lead this team to a Super Bowl victory are slim. Not impossible, but slim. And the chances that he'll lead them to a Super Bowl victory in 2019 are even slimmer. The Bengals ARE rebuilding, so trading Dalton and inserting Jeff Driskel, another veteran or a rookie as the teams starting QB makes a ton of sense. If the new QB fails and the Bengals wind up with a 4-12 record, so be it. They weren't going to win a Super Bowl this year with Dalton anyway, so why not set the team up with high draft picks so they can build a roster full of great players? If Dalton is the teams starter in 2019, there's a chance he will lead them to a few more victories, but like I stated earlier, not a Super Bowl victory. This would have the Bengals drafting somewhere in the middle of the pack and make it all that much tougher to rebuild. Another words, Dalton may be able to lead the team to approximately a 10-6 record this coming season, but so what? At 31 years of age, Dalton isn't in the teams future plans. Jeff Driskel does have more natural talent than Dalton and he's younger. Zac Taylor MAY be able to do with Driskel what he did with Jeff Goff. Actually, Driskel has more natural ability than Goff. It just doesn't make any sense to keep Dalton UNLESS the coaching staff is 100% convinced that they can win a Super Bowl with him. IMO, that's not the case.

But lets say they trade him. I would try to get a really good OT as apposed to a draft pick. If possible.

The higher the better. A fourth round pick is all he's worth, but because he's a QB, they may get a higher pick. It only takes one GM out of 31 teams to think he's worth it. I sure hope a move is made to bring in a QB this year or next. Speaking of such, I'm hoping that an ex-student of mine, LSU QB Joe Burrow, has a breakout season in 2019 and he winds up a Bengal. I can't even begin to tell you how exciting, yet surreal that would be. Joe had a great 2018 down on the Bayou and if he shows enough improvement, he's gonna go on day one of the draft. I can personally tell you the kid has everything a team wants in a QB. He just needs to continue to get better across the board. The good news? He's almost there.
