Hope to get 6 out of Rookie Davis and he shows he is part of the future. Worst case Stephenson comes in and does well and shows he can be part of the future.
Probably wont make another game thread here but will follow.

Jameson Taillon has just 19 Major League starts for the Pirates, but the Cincinnati Reds have seen the big right-hander twice.
The 6-foot-5, 225-pound Taillon, who missed all of the 2014 and 2015 seasons with medical issues, followed a strong rookie year with a stellar 2017 debut. Going toe-to-toe with Boston ace Chris Sale at Fenway Park on Wednesday, he tossed seven scoreless innings in a no-decision that ended in a 3-0, 12-inning Pirates' loss. Taillon struck out six, walked three and yielded five hits.
Taillon, 25, the second pick overall in the 2010 Draft, might be emerging as a staff star. He joined the Pirates last June and went 5-4 with a 3.38 ERA, striking out 85 and walking 17 in 104 innings. He had a 2.86 ERA in 11 home starts and was 1-0 with a 3.27 ERA in 11 innings against the Reds.

Boy it sure would be a good thing if Votto could get going.

Sheeeew! I thought that was going to be another long tragic inning for Davis after quickly getting the first two.

Duval HR, maybe he's not quite the fluke that some think!

Duval HR, maybe he's not quite the fluke that some think! I've been saying this for a few years. You need a variety of hitters in your lineup. Duvall can bang and maybe not hit for AVG/OBP but unless you have a lineup full of the same type of hitter, that's OK. Start taking power out of the lineup and adding OBP those droughts where you don't get 5 baserunners an inning can get boring and unproductive.

He caught a lot of flack for that early on, but he was definitely right

Rookie Davis reminds me in many ways of a young Bill Gullickson. We can only hope he does as well.
