BTW: Reds’ bullpen did not allow a hit in 7 innings. First time in the modern era (since 1900) bullpen pitched 7 hitless innings. #Elias

And we did it courtesy of starters and former starters in Reed and Lorenzen. Pen needs used less but the way ours is constructed it's built for innings. We're cutting edge on it right now. Still was so pumped to see Reed last night. "That" was the guy I saw this spring and was blown away by. Exuding confidence and blowing people away with 3 plus pitches. BTW Here are our basic ranks across the board. This is all MLB. Runs-8th(tied)(33 Runs)(4.71 per game) ERA-2nd(2.76) FPCT-2nd(.996)(1 error tied 2nd)

Someone else has noticed how we are using the bullpen in something other than traditional roles. www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/the-athletics-and-reds-are-steering-clear-of-traditional-bullpen-roles-this-season/If I remember correctly, Price started talking about what he is doing now on the day he was hired. Needless to say, he did nothing to follow through on that edict as if he wasn't ballsy enough to try to go out on a limb to do so. I think how the bullpens were managed in the playoff with Chapman, Miller, etc showed it is ok to not be normal, and now Price is running with his original plan.

Can't help but think of that old saw "Necessity is the mother of invention"! I see Reed in the rotation soon and Astin back up when he clears the time.

Brad, Price did say this the day he was hired. Now I am thinking with him being a rookie manager at the time old Walt put the stop to that kind of talk fast. Funny that now Walt is gone Price is doing what he said he was gonna do from day 1 now.

Arroyo being released for Astin.

Arroyo being released for Astin. I think Yo will be the long man. With a abbreviated spring training and his age, the role would be perfect for him.
